Protection from the World
The home continues to grow as our solace from the world; the place we think of as the stability from upheaval.  This desire for protection is influencing furniture silhouettes.  Higher backs, side panels, and in some cases canopy type tops reflect the need for security and give additional privacy in a busy home.
